The crews of the STS Kruzenshtern and Pallada at the port of Ushuaia took part in official events with the participation of Dmitry Feoktistov (the Russian Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Argentina).
During the stay at the port the ship will replenish fuel and food supplies, and the crew members and cadets will rest from a long passage, walk around the city and get acquainted with its must-visit places.
On January 9, at 19:40 ship’s time, the barque Kruzenshtern safely crossed the equator. The day of crossing the Equator is called the Day of Neptune. Hardcore seafarers made a theatrical performance to leave a good memory of this significant event.
The Kruzenstern has been staying in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Islands) for three days. After a hard passage and severe storms the crew and cadets are enjoying warm sunny weather.
On 19 December, Kruzenshtern left the Biscay Bay. When sun broke through the clouds it got much warmer. The temperature at seven in the morning rose to 18 degrees.
For two days the Kruzenshtern was making her way to the English Channel from the North Sea. She had to overcome strong wind. Sometimes her speed dropped to 1 knot. Both main engines had a hard time. When the conditions became more or less favourable the ship got to Pas de Calais.
